Fifty years of President's visit to SJC :
Aug 25, 2008

India's first President Dr Rajendra Prasad had visited the College on August 15, 1958. It was a historic moment for the College as he was visiting an educational institution in Bangalore for the first time.

Mr Ernest Abraham, the then General Secretary of the College, was indeed instrumental in bringing him to the campus. "Indeed it was a miracle; it was truly a historic moment for all of us. I do not know with what confidence I assured the Principal, Fr Andrade, that we would get the President to address the students. Fr Andrade was furious at my utopian overconfidence. But once the President came to the campus, Fr Andrade hugged me and it was an emotional moment for me," recalls Mr Abraham, a septuagenarian, but still active in his own way.
