Transparency in Image Processing with remarks on Data Analysis: A guest lecture by Dr. Steven L Tanimoto

A guest lecture was delivered to the Big Data Analytics students on 9th March 2018 by Prof. Steven Tanimoto of Washington University. He addressed the students on Transparency in Image Processing with remarks on Data Analysis.

He was welcomed by the Big Data Analytics faculty along with Prof. Arun of the Physics department. His talk started out with explanations of the ‘black box’ concept and the need for transparency in the present technological world. With the proliferation of image data in all fields, he stressed on the importance of understanding image filtering and processing. He demonstrated an open-source software, PixelMath, built by his team, that interactively establishes image data visually as well as mathematically.
