Communicative English, Political Science, Economics
The Communicative English course at St. Joseph's College aims to equip its students with a repertoire of skills ranging from creative expression, analytical writing, public speaking, writing for the media, archiving and multimedia production. The course is offered along with Political Science (with a focus on International Relations) and Economics (with a focus on Entrepreneurial Skills). The skills we offer are matched with a strong grounding in ideas from both the literary tradition of English Studies and from its rapidly expanding frontiers--linguistics,semiotics, film studies, cultural studies and the digital humanities. The design of the course has been evolved through discussion and consultation over the last ten years. We've been careful to ensure that it offers the student a range of hands-on, fun learning experiences through a strong calendar of co-curricular and extra-curricular engagement, and through a series of internships over the three years of the course.
Students completing the course will find themselves ready for productive writing careers, for entry into media and communication, advertising, arts & culture management, archive-management, translation, publishing, and into teaching and research. They will also find themselves well-equipped for careers in the Civil Services, and in the Development sector.
