Datagram v2.1 was ‘quite the learning experience’

Learning and fun came hand in hand at the one-day intra-collegiate techno-cultural fest Datagram v2.1, organised by the Department of Big Data Analytics at SJC on August 2.

Over 150 students from eight colleges participated in the fest, which had events such as Young Data Scientist, Lecture Contest, and Quiz, testing the data-analytical skills of the students.

Competitions for games such as Doodle Army 2: Mini Militia and Counter-Strike were also held. Datagram — described to this reporter as “quite the learning experience” by a participant — was organised by the Sigma Square Association, the data science association of the department. The aim of the fest was to provide a platform to students from across the country to showcase their talent in the field of data analytics.

Dr Vidyadhar Mudkavi, the head of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research Fourth Paradigm Institute inaugurated the event. During the inaugural speech, Mudkavi spoke of the importance of big data and its changing purview.

Dr Jayathi Bhadra, coordinator of the Department of Big Data Analytics, and Dr Melvin Colaso, Registrar of St Joseph’s College, were also present at the inauguration.
