Sharp minds of the city compete at ‘AD INFINITUM’

The Mathematics Association of St. Joseph’s college, Abacus inaugurated the 2nd edition of their annual inter – collegiate mathematics fest ‘AD INFINITUM’ today. Fr. Melwyn D’Cunha, Vice Principal (PG) inaugurated the event and Dr. Stephen Titus, Head of the Mathematics Department addressed the gathering.

The Abacus Association aims make math accessible for all kinds of students through simple and fun activities. It also aims to change the major phobia associated with maths by conducting informative workshops and lectures. This fest is one such initiative. ‘AD INFINITUM’ represents till infinity.

“Sky is the limit; we are promoting the idea of trying harder to reach infinity. Everybody can be part of this learning process and achieve ultimate levels of success in their lives”, said Meghana D, Student coordinator of AD INFINITUM. The main objective of this fest is to cultivate the application of Maths. Mathematics offers rationality to our thoughts and makes our life simpler and easier. “We have various aspects of mathematical modelling, quiz and other familiar events to give a break to students from their hectic schedule”, said PN Meena, a student from PG mathematics. The fest is for the UG and PG mathematics students. Almost 18 colleges participated in the event.
