META Schools festival winds up

The two-day Meta Schools Fest held in St Joseph’s College came to a close on Saturday last with students participating in the Spelling Bee and Poetry Slam. The students competed on the basis of seniors and juniors. The first day of the fest on Friday saw events like fan fiction, cartooning and illustration for both the senior and junior school students and jam which was only for the senior school students.

The students from Presidency school won the over all championship in the junior school catyegory and the students from Christ Junior College won the over all championship in the senior school category. In the junior category, Hannah Scarlet from Presidency School, Prabhat Bedida from Bishop Cotton’s Boys School and Harthik Roy from St Paul’s School won the first prize in cartooning, fan fiction and illustration, respectively. The Presidency School bagged the first prize in the general quiz.

In the senior category, Adarsh Nambiar from Christ Junior College, Abhignya Cavale from Jain College, Shagun Boparah from St Joseph’s Boys High School and Shankaran Ramesh from Christ Junior College won the first prize in illustration, cartooning, fan fiction and jam, respectively, and the Christ Junior College team bagged the first prize in general quiz. On the second day of the event, Shreya from Christ Junior College bagged the first prize for Poetry Slam.

Anushree A.V, a student from St Paul’s School andRohan from Bishop Cotton’s School won the spelling bee in the junior and senior categories respectively. “This is the fourth edition of Meta Schools. We felt this is the best time to conduct the event as the schools have just begun for the academic year. It is also one way of getting them to see what they would like to do before they make a choice of joining the college,” said Prof Archita Murthy, English Department.
