College hosts National Conference of Commerce

“India is no more suffering from the problem of unemployment but there is another crisis called unemployability, where graduates are unskilled for the jobs available,” said Mohammed Umair during the panel discussion on Wednesday, February 27. The event was part of the National Conference on the Chances, Concerns and Challenges in Commerce, organised by the Department of Commerce of St Joseph’s college (Autonomous).

The chief guest of the event was Varun Jain, CEO at Miles Education and CareerGraph, and Gaurav Kapoor, head of ACCA. The event started with the inauguration followed by a panel discussion on the global business landscape undergoing a significant transformation in India. The panel discussion was moderated by V Christo Selvan, Prefect of Commerce at the college. The panellists included entrepreneur Paul Franklin, the college’s commerce professor Mohammad Umair, and students Nyrika and Yashaswi. Students from colleges not just in Bengaluru but also from other cities participated in the event.
