Shruti Merin Lal of II BA IES was elected president of the Student Council of St Joseph's College (Autonomous) in an election held on Saturday.The poll, conducted by an electoral commission was formed by the college who setup rules and regulations for the election, also saw Anusha B.S. from II PMC elected vice president, Angeline Katherina from I BVOC chosen general secretary and James Keith H o over from II CBBT elected treasurer.

Coordinated by the StudentCouncil committee governor Amitha Priyadarshini,election was held to choose student representatives for the academic year 2020 - 21.The new Student Council ofthe college will start from June 2020 but will beunder the apprenticeship of members of the current Student Council.

This year, there were 22 candidates contesting for the four posts in the council.Current cultural secretary Mayank Gaurav told The Beacon, "The new councilhas 80 percent girls. The President, Vice President, General Secretary and Joint Secretary are all girls."
